After scrolling through Pinterest I was able to gather a collection of table of contents pages that inspire me. I found the overlapping collage style arrangement visually pleasing and better suited for my magazine. Attached below are some layouts that I found interesting.

In the above contents page I really like the the alignment and overlapping layout style they have used. I even like the fonts they have used as it enhanced the contents page more and made it very minimalistic. The images they had incorporated gives the readers an idea on what they will be seeing in each page and in turn appealing to them to continue to read the magazine. The typography and the photographs followed a calm colour palette throughout.

I liked this contents page in particular because of the minimalist aesthetic. Only a minimum amount of space has been taken to place the table of contents make the page very crisp and clean. The font used along with the less amount of photographs used adds to the style of the page. I especially liked the translucent boxes around the text and the bolded vertical lines used to highlight and make the text stand out.
This contents page design is very much different to the previous one where a lot of space has been used up by the images and text. However it is similar in term of the typography.

This was the contents page design that inspired me the most. The colour palette was very unique with different styles of pink and black: bold, translucent, colour fill etc. I really like how they've used a lot of photographs in the contents page itself to capture and hold the readers attention. The use of large numbers in various styles is visually very pleasing. I liked the idea of adding a small description below the title of each page as it gave the audience an overview of what to expect from each page. The technique of using grayscale images so that the text color doesn't clash seemed very unique to me.
Through this research assignment I was able to get an understanding of various magazine contents page layout ideas and was able to start pondering on my own design for the first draft.
